brain food

I am, right now, roasting broccoli and zucchini.  Very simple, with only a few ingredients, but the combination is beautiful.  The colors … greens, from pale to emerald … appeal, as do the differing textures.  I am very much looking forward to my meal.

I like to take a step back from the words every now and then.  Sometimes, I become so immersed in what I am writing, in generating descriptions that can be tasted and felt and experienced, that I forget to involve myself in the world beyond pen and page.  A mistake, to be sure, for how can one write about life without experiencing it?

I am hungry.
